Alaska Airlines/Horizon Air: Best of Victoria - "This busy, modest, spotlessly clean restaurant treats you to the flavors of Hong Kong, Singapore, and northern China. A large kitchen window lets you watch chefs busily prepare wonton soup, imperial prawns with spicy garlic wine sauce, spicy ginger fried chicken, or Sichuan braised beef hot pot. Noodles are a specialty and are made fresh daily."

Frommers:

"Real Chinese noodle houses are rare in North America, which is a shame, because they're so much fun. The kitchen here is glassed in so that you can watch the chefs spinning out noodles for the dishes and expertly whisking soups through woks into bowls. Lunch specials are good and cheap--expect a line. If you miss the specials, noodle soups, chow mein, chow fun (wide noodles), and other dishes are also quick, delicious, and inexpensive." (August 2000)

"A billion and half people can't be wrong. Actually, all of China has yet to eat at J&J Wonton Noodle House, but if they had, they'd love it." (July 2002)

"The out-of-the-ordinary Chinese menu at this restaurant features traditional Cantonese and Szechuan recipes prepared with nontraditional ingredients like locally farmed ostrich meat."

Victoria Restaurant Reviews: "This is the place to come for fresh noodles and wonton if you find yourself east of downtown and not in the mood for a walk all the way to Chinatown." To read more, click here.

Zagat - (2000 - 2008)

""Victoria's best Chinese" is "so damn good", and "everything is so hot and fresh", that many are willing to "go early or late to avoid the lines" of Downtowners clamouring for the likes of "amazing Shanghai noodles with mushrooms" and sublime braised tofu; granted, the decor is "sparse" (though there is an open kitchen), but that's offset by a "very clean" interior, "fast" service and "inexpensive" prices."
